The club has had a busy summer to date with the completion of summer obedience and our first agility class. During the summer the club runs an abbreviated set of classes since we recognize that families are busy vacationing or participating in summer sports/activities with the family. Our obedience classes ran for five weeks and they consisted of a puppy class and a basic class. Our first beginners agility class, which ran for six weeks, was a success and all of the participants were exposed to the equipment and handlers were taught some beginning handling skills. Look for details of the club's fall classes to be posted on the website soon!
On July 12th the club did a demo at the Bark in the Park event for the State College Spikes. Eight dogs and handlers performed a drill team demo that included dogs jumping and going through tunnels to the music of The Tractors (Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train), which then finished up with a small demo from our youngest members. Look for the video to be posted soon!
The weekend after the demo members met on the Juniata river in McVeytown for the club's annual picnic. Dogs and people played in the river and enjoyed good food and conversation.
Summer is winding down and we'll be looking towards fall activities, so stay tuned! Remember, club meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at the clubhouse on the Mifflin County Sportsmens grounds. See the map on the front page for directions.

A short summer session of classes have begun that will last for 5 to 6 weeks. On Monday evenings the club is offering a Puppy class (for dogs 6 months of age and younger) and a Beginners class (dogs over 6 months of age). The Monday classes are full and started on Monday June 7th. Tuesday we are offering a Beginner Agility class which will introduce dogs and handlers to the equipment as well as teach the dogs to respond to commands and signals. This class is our first agility offering and is also full. After the completion of these classes the club will take a break for the summer before starting up our fall session of classes (our fall session begins after the Labor Day holiday).
